The Challenge

The corona crisis caught the world off guard. Millions of people got infected and the Covid-19 pandemic has a very large impact on society. We are still in the Covid-19 pandemic, but experts think that the next viral pandemic may be caused by the Influenza A virus. Influenza viruses are known to mutate quickly, contributing to pandemic-type situations in society sooner rather than later. As we have seen in the current pandemic, rapid testing of patients is crucial to contain the spread of viruses. Therefore, TEST aims to engineer a biosensor that senses Influenza A in saliva for rapid testing.

The Solution

In a pandemic, it is of critical importance to know whether someone is healthy or diseased. So rapid testing is essential and it should be as easy as possible. So that is why we focus on building a biosensor to detect the influenza A virus within a few minutes. We aim to achieve this by using the bio sensing based particle mobility (BPM) technology for a point-of-care rapid, affordable and easy-to-use biosensor.

The Mission

Why: To monitor influenza A to minimize its impact on people’s quality of life How: By engineering a rapid, affordable and easy-to-use biosensor, we add value to the monitoring of Influenza A providing for better planning of appropriate control, intervetion measures and allocation of health resources. What: Our customer’s needs, our expertises and our point-of-care biosensing based on particle mobility combine for our customer-specific solutions.
